Work begins on major wind power plant in central Vietnam
Vietnam’s Central Wind Energy Corp. broke ground Wednesday for a US$36 million power station in the Nhon Hoi economic zone in the central Binh Dinh province.
Phuong Mai 3 will have the highest capacity of any wind power plant in the country, producing 55 megawatts annually.
The province had also approved two other plants, Phuong Mai 1 and 2, in 2004 but due to reasons that are unclear, work on them is yet to begin.
Elsewhere, authorities in the southern archipelago of Con Dao have given the go-ahead for a $19 million, 6MW wind power plant.
It will be built by a Swiss company and is expectedto go on stream by the end of next year.
